Schrafft (William F. and Sons) Candy Factory opens.
1928
Engineer: Lockwood Greene. Designed in the Art Deco style, the reinforced concrete building is located at 529 Main Street. The largest candy factory at the world at the time, the building includes an eight-story clock tower. The factory closes in 1982 and the building is converted to commercial use in 2015.* The original neon sign, which had been declared a local landmark, is replaced by a new LED-lit sign in December 2016.
